President's Page, Patricia Peterman
This is my second year as President of Home & School and my fourth year as a board member. When it comes to “getting things done,” you cannot top this year’s team at the H&SA. We are so proud of our multitude of parent volunteers and our Board for their many, many accomplishments. Let’s not forget our larger team that includes our community members, our teachers, staff and administrators. From early years, many have helped MDG School by volunteering in all sorts of ways including but not limited to: chaperoning, cleaning, serving food, setting up and breaking down tables and chairs, making baked goods, etc. The values of hard work and charity are embedded in many of them early on. Everyone plays a part in the success of MDG and we greatly appreciate your contributions of valuable time and effort as well as your support of our many fundraisers.
It has been a pleasure working with the ladies on our Board this year. They make it seem easy – but we know better! We thank all of them, present and future, for their commitment to the H&SA, our school, and our community.
Last year we started an initiative of compiling our families’ email addresses in an attempt to somewhat go paperless. Our response to this initiative was very successful in the lower grades; however, in grades 4 through 8 we did not receive very many family email addresses. We are hopeful this year will be the year to go as paperless as we possibly can. (THINK GREEN) At back to school night and at our first H&SA meeting we will pass out “request for contact information.” While Mrs. Lockhart sends out these types of requests as well, the information supplied to H&S at the request of H&S will be uploaded to MDG’s database by a H&S board member and be used solely by H&S. It is a time consuming process so we ask for your cooperation in responding as soon as possible. Last year I received many accolades from parents regarding H&S’s usage of email. Let’s try to make this happen!
Let’s enjoy the rest of the summer while we can, look forward to the fall, but most importantly let’s begin this school year with the core values of hard work and charity and lead our children by example.
See you at
church and school!
